With an earning of just $20 on day one, “Zyzzyx Road” has one of the worst debuts in film history. That’s not what producers wanted to see after spending $1.2 million making the thriller movie.
“Zyzzyx Road” might have had more success if it wasn’t released at just one cinema, though it’s hard to say whether or not that would have made an enormous difference. Actors like Katherine Heigl were still rising stars in the industry back then, and wouldn’t have pulled in as many viewers as they would now.
