When asking your teacher for a higher grade, exercise caution. There’s nothing they hate more than a student only showing up for a favor. When David needed that favor at the end of the semester he figured he would just ask for it.
Mr. Z took the opportunity to school him on how inappropriate his request was. Not only did David learn a few lessons in Mr. Z’s reply, he learned a valuable life lesson: if you have to ask, the answer is probably going to be no.
