After her appearance, and unfortunate defeat, on Iron Chef America, Giada De Laurentiis was invited to present the Food Network Awards.
She accepted the offer, of course, and at the beginning of 2007, became the face of the show for that year. The Food Network Awards are given to chefs, restaurants, and other food-related people and companies, for exceptional recipes and work. Giada was, therefore, a perfect candidate for the role, and it was no surprise that the public loved her appearance on the show.
