On March 29, 2008, Giada’s daughter, Jade was born. “Giada” is the Italian word meaning “Jade,” so this is a subtle, yet beautiful way to recreate her name.
Jade was born to Giada and her husband, Todd Thompson, whom she married in 2003. Giada expressed that she only wanted one child as, she has always been so work-orientated and doesn’t want to lose focus on her career. The second reason for only wanting one was that she has somewhat of a fear of having more children, after her brother passed away from melanoma in 2003.
