Seeing her former friend break down in front of her did little to evoke Anna’s sympathies. If anything, she seemed to think Rachel was exaggerating.
In response to Rachel calling the ordeal the worst of her life, Anna dryly said she should try a week at Rikers Island – presumably not realizing she was in prison exactly for the type of behavior Rachel and many others accused her of. Rachel’s only crime was traveling to Morocco with someone she assumed would pay her part.
