It dawned on the concierge that Anna was trying to get close to her – she wanted a friend. Neff was a budding cinematographer and knew she could benefit from Anna and her connections to further her career.
Anna knew all the right people, and it wouldn’t hurt for her to be in that crowd. The two also seemed to like each other and became close, often going out together. It was the first time Neff had made friends outside of work with a guest, but it was a dangerous friendship.

Neff recalled that when the two were out, Anna never let her pay for anything. “You know how you reach for your credit card? She wouldn’t let me,” she said.
Anna also got herself a personal trainer and life coach that cost around $4,500, and kept throwing around those $100 bills to everyone. It was obvious to everyone around her that she had money, and lots of it. She was like a princess taking a break from her European life.
