On the show, Alan works as a chiropractor to support himself and his son, Jake. While being the secondary character for most of the show, after Charlie Harper’s death, Alan soon takes over the leading role. This character is the only one in the entire show that makes an appearance in every episode. It is during this time we see his many failed relationships, but luckily he manages to find his happily ever after with Lyndsey McElroy in the final season.
