Perhaps the saddest part about the story – aside from Joyce giving up her longtime home, which was a very difficult decision for her – is that the home has now lost what made it so special.
While obviously the new tenants have every right to make the home their own, it’s a bit of a shame to change such a masterpiece. But, Joyce understands that the home is now someone else’s. Her time there had come to an end and as she closed the door, new residents opened it.
