Before announcing himself on the stage of Europe’s Strongest Man, Björnsson was already gaining interest from the world of film and television.
Standing at 6 ft 9 in, he was perfect for playing actual man mountains, and in 2014 the casting department of TV’s fantasy drama Game of Thrones came calling. Björnsson was asked to play Gregor Clegane, otherwise known as The Mountain. It was hard to argue with his name as he towered above everyone else on set while playing the fearsome warrior.
