Wary that they didn’t want the priceless pieces of artwork to cross state lines or national borders, the FBI wanted to get to the bottom of the case as soon as possible. Their first inkling was that criminals within a criminal organization based in the mid-Atlantic and New England were to blame for the heist.
They quickly set about conducting interviews with known members of the gang and other narcotics dealers, and they even interviewed former security guards who had previously worked in the museum.
