Finally, in 2012, the authorities believed that they had something on Gentile – but it wasn’t to do with the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist.
In fact, he was taken down on narcotics charges, but this also gave the FBI the chance to raid his home. During this raid, they hoped to find the pieces of art that had gone missing all those years ago. While they didn’t find the actual pieces, they did find a handwritten list that featured all of the names of the paintings and artifacts that had been stolen.
