This museum was first established in the early 1900s, and it wasn’t long before it was a name on everyone’s list. Anyone who was anyone and interested in art, culture, and the greatest works of the last few centuries made their way to see the pieces in this museum.
Amazingly, it has welcomed millions of visitors since its inception – but not all of these visitors have been honest in their intentions. In fact, on March 18, 1990, this museum became the location of the most infamous art heists in history.
