After putting a huge amount of time and effort into the placement and the narrative of her artwork, the museum officially opened on New Year’s Day in 1903.
Some of the most prestigious scholars and some of the most famous people of the day were invited to attend, and they were all astounded by Isabella’s curation and the pieces housed in her museum. Little did they know that many of the most expensive pieces in this museum would be stolen and never to be seen again just 87 years later…
