Though Kate Jackson was already an accomplished actress by the time she was cast in Charlie’s Angels, the producers noticed that compared to the other two women – Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith – she was a bit more homely.
Because of this, the producers made her character the more intelligent one, while Fawcett and Smith were the heartthrobs. While this may seem unfair, Jackson was nominated for more awards than any of her other co-stars, so it certainly didn’t stop people from loving her on the show.
