Iron Fist cast on the show and in real life

Clearly, Marvel is not happy with just taking over the cinematic world, they have set about filling the TV universe with plenty of their TV shows and characters too. Over the past few years, Marvel has released Agent Carter, The Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This has been great for Marvel fans as it allows us to binge watch more of our heroes between trips to the cinema. One of their newest additions, Iron Fist, is a TV adaptation of the Marvel comic book character’s story. Iron Fist first appeared in Marvel comics in 1974, and he is a martial arts expert. He has a superpower, his ‘Iron Fist,’ that glows yellow and can be used to knock over almost anything as well as being able to withstand any attack it suffers. With such an impeccable cast, let’s take a look at the Iron Fist crew in the show versus real life.

Who is the Iron Fist you say? The Iron Fist, or Danny Rand as he is also known, was mysteriously transported to K’un-Lun after a tragedy befell his parents while on a trip. K’un-Lun is a mystical city that lies in the mountains, and this is where the Iron Fist’s training is undertaken and the source of Danny’s strength. Danny found himself there as a young child and grew up angry because his parents had been taken from him. His Masters teach him to discover his inner peace and offer him the opportunity to learn how to become the mystical Iron Fist. Once he achieved this status, by defeating a dragon, he was branded with a dragon-shaped scar on his chest.

The show was critically panned, it scored a lowly 18% on Rotten Tomatoes, but for those that watched it there is a certain charm to it, and many fans of Iron Fist are happy to have their hero finally come to life. There was a film in development for over a decade before Marvel Television pulled their fingers out and got to writing a script for a show instead of a movie. As with many Marvel projects, there is the potential for the characters to cross into other superheroes timelines. If the Avengers is anything to go by, then we may be seeing the cast appear in several other Marvel TV shows. They have already started with Marvel’s The Defenders, released earlier this year, featuring the Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones. Below is a list of the main cast in Iron Fist, so you can see the transformations they underwent to feature as the comic book characters on our screens.

Jessica Stroup portrays Joy Meachum, one-half of the Meacham siblings that runs Rand Enterprises. She spent most of her life building up the status of the company after Danny’s father passed away mysteriously. Once Danny comes back into the fold he threatens to undo all of the hard work Joy and her brother, Ward, have done. Once childhood friends, Joy is unsure if the man claiming to be Danny really is him, but Danny soon proves his authenticity.
