In the movie, Cooper’s character eventually falls in love with this unconventional and talented starlet. Lady Gaga was the perfect musician to cast in the role, and Cooper surprised many people with his singing skills throughout the film. Critics worried that casting Gaga might be a risk, but she was so good she was nominated for the Best Leading Actress Oscar.
