The bottle used in the show was not in fact designed for it. It was instead a bottle from a special Christmas edition of a Jim Beam liquor decanter that originally contained Beam’s Choice whiskey. The origin of the bottle is disputed.
Sheldon says he found it and thought it would be perfect, while the first season’s director said he gifted the bottle to Sheldon, and various members of the art department stated that they were the ones to find it.
