The Lindo Wing – Where royals are born

We have a new royal baby! The British royal family is certainly all over the news right now, what with a new baby AND Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. If you’ve been caught up in baby fever following the birth of Prince Louis of Cambridge, the third child of Kate Middleton and Prince William, then we’ve got you covered. We have everything you wanted to know about the Lindo Wing where young Louis was born back in April 2018.

A place of tradition

Louis isn’t the first royal child to be born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital. His brother and sister were both delivered here back in 2013 and 2015 respectively, but the family connection with the wing goes further back than them. Their father was also born in the wing, as was their uncle. It’s likely that any future births from either William or Harry will also be dealt with in the Lindo Wing.

Paying the price

If the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge use your wing for their births, then you know the service you provide must be top quality. Indeed, having a suite on the wing is by no means cheap. A standard room with a stay of just one night costs £5900 (around $8000), with the deluxe package slightly more expensive at £6275 (or $8500). That’s a lot to pay out for just one night, but then would you expect any less? The prices have risen by over £1000 ($1360) since Prince George was born, so there’s a good chance that they could go up yet again following Prince Louis’ birth.

Luxury stay

Of course, you get what you pay for when you stay in the Lindo Wing. The treatment that you receive here is similar to that of a five-star hotel, and comes with all manner of amenities to ensure comfort at such a precious time. The rooms come with a fully-stocked fridge, satellite TV, radio and phone, as well as free wifi. You need to let your Facebook friends know as soon as you’ve popped the baby out, after all.

Best treatment around

As well as providing excellent accommodation, the Lindo Wing also offers a great service for the delivery of the child. The staff there can cater to all types of pregnancies, even ones which might suffer complications. The obstetric unit is one of the greatest in the world, so you never have to worry if something goes wrong. You’re in safe hands.

When Prince Louis was born, there were plenty of staff waiting just outside of the delivery room to help out. There were only a few midwives and other staff actually in the room with Kate, but almost two dozen experts were prepared to lend their advice and skills during the delivery. None of these were required thankfully, but it’s good to know that the people working on the wing are so dedicated to their job.

With three children now in their family, we have no idea whether or not to expect William and Kate to announce another pregnancy sometime in the future. It wouldn’t be out of the question for someone in the royal family to have a lot of children, although maybe Harry and Meghan will be the next to make use of the Lindo Wing.
