Dick York was the original actor for Samantha’s long-suffering husband, Darrin Stephens. He played the role for five of Bewitched’s eight seasons, but stepped down, seemingly without reason. For a long, long time, fans had no idea why the actor was replaced. Sadly, York had suffered a back injury, which resulted in chronic pain. Due to this, he was unable to keep up his career, and had to step down for the sake of his own health.
