Anyone who has ever worked in the creative industry has likely been asked to do something for free. Popular excuses such as, ‘think of the exposure!’ or ‘but we’re friends!’ is something that artists, writers, photographers, caterers, and performers hear all the time.
Unfortunately for this woman, she was about to find out that not only did a dad she babysat for not want to pay for her art, but he also wasn’t planning on paying for watching his kids.

An artist and babysitter known by the username givemeayes recently took to Reddit to share an unfortunate interaction she had with someone who expected her to provide both free art and childcare. It all began when she received a text message from her friend’s husband and father of the kids she often babysat.
He explained that he had spotted some blank canvases while picking up his kids, before asking if she would be willing to paint a portrait of his family as a “Christmas present.”
