The woman was quick to reply, politely explaining that while she would love to paint a portrait of him and his family, she is saving the professional gallery-style canvases she has for something inspirational, or at least something with paid commission.
She then offered to do the work for a fair price, as long as he would be willing to purchase his own canvas. The artist believed this to be a reasonable deal, considering how she was trying to make a living out of it and all.
