So should the woman have just accepted the job and moved on? She is a new artist after all, and getting another painting to add to her portfolio could definitely have been beneficial in the long run. On the other hand, why should she have to give up the expensive canvases, materials, and precious time required to paint the portrait for the man’s family?
And if he was a close acquaintance, through his wife, then shouldn’t he be supporting her career in art instead of making her feel like it isn’t worth a cent?
