Nurses spend a lot of time with their patients, so they are bound to form an attachment to them. However, there is a lot at stake when sparking up a romantic relationship with a patient, so nurses avoid it at all costs. Nurses hold the position of power in this setting, therefore jeopardizing that can be a big mistake.
They have to form appropriate boundaries so that no one gets the wrong idea. Damien and Alex did this perfectly, and made sure they were both clear where they stood when Alex was a nurse, and he was a patient.
