Alex Hoover, who was 29 at the time, was a nurse on Damien’s trauma team. She devoted a lot of time to getting him back on his feet, but remained professional throughout. Damien even remembers asking her if she had a boyfriend, to which she responded yes, saying she loved him dearly.
He recalls being disappointed but was heavily dosed up on medication, so didn’t take this as a defeat. He didn’t want to give up on the instant connection he felt they had.
