Although she has mostly appeared in movies throughout her career, Tomei isn’t afraid to try new things. In 2015 she was cast in five episodes of the musical drama series Empire.
Besides TV appearances, over the years Tomei has also featured in several stage shows, the medium that brought her to acting in the first place. Her biggest stage show came in 2008, playing several characters in Top Girls. Most recently, she appeared in How to Transcend a Happy Marriage, an Off-Broadway show in 2017.
