Jon Favreau may be a well known actor, but he also directed Iron Man, and fought very hard to get the actor he wanted to portray Tony Stark. He desperately wanted Robert Downey Jr. to receive the role, and as we all know, he eventually got it.
But Marvel initially didn’t want to cast him, and Favreau worked really hard to persuade them to let him on. They were afraid about Downey’s rocky past – and Favreau felt that made him even more perfect for the role.
