In the early stages of the MCU, it was already preordained that an Ant Man movie would later come, and that Edgar Wright would be the one directing it. However, by the time it was decided that the movie should get made, their creative styles had changed – and Wright was happy about that.
Marvel wanted it to be written a certain way, and Wright felt that it didn’t really work with in his original vision. Oh well… perhaps he’ll change his mind in time for The Wasp?
