On their @sussexroyal Instagram page, the couple announced that after “many months of reflection and internal discussions,” that they would take a step back from their ‘senior’ roles within the Royal Family. They noted that they would also aim to become “financially independent.”
Within their post, they also noted that they would continue to support Her Majesty The Queen, but that they felt it was time to “progressive new role within this institution” for themselves. At the time of writing, the post has amassed a whopping 1.4 million likes – and some serious criticism for Meghan herself.
