It may not occur to Americans, who have grown up listening to a very specific English accent on films and television, but England has a variety of accents. In fact, just London has four distinct accents! So when people are saying Meghan speaks with a British accent, what do they mean?
Well, the accent most associated with the Royal Family is “received pronunciation,” also known as the Queen’s English. Ironically, while it’s spoken by the family’s older members, like the Queen and Prince Charles, the younger generation – Including Prince Harry – use a more modernized version of it.
