The Royal Family has its own Royal Train, which is used exclusively by the more senior members of the family. However, when it’s time to go to Sandringham for the holidays, the Queen and Prince Philip travel like commoners… Well, sort of.
About a week before Christmas, they actually charter an entire carriage of a pre-scheduled public train going to Norfolk, the county in which Sandringham is located, and settle in for the holidays before the rest of the family shows up.
