Having her daughter lash out at her new gift was particularly painful for Hassell because she’d just wanted to do something nice for Presleigh. As she told Good Morning America, she knew that her child was worried about starting first grade, so she’d bought the pencil box to cheer her up.
She’d hoped that it would make Presleigh excited to go to school because she had the “cool” thing that she’d really wanted. Unfortunately, her generosity was not appreciated. Normally, if you dislike a gift, you at least wait until you’re alone before trashing it.
