There are few phrases as irritating as ‘The customer is always right’ – given that the customer is often very, very wrong. Unfortunately, people really stick to this idea, assuming that they must be in the right even when they’ve very clearly made a mistake.
One theater employee had to deal with a customer who started crying foul when they were told that the counter they had walked up to was closed – even though there was a sign in front of the till and ropes cordoning it off.
