The thing about this movie is that Jake Gyllenhaal’s character, Colter Stevens, is inside a simulation that’s supposed to only last eight minutes, while inside another person’s consciousness.
But if that’s the case, why does it eventually allow him to go back into that same simulation later and save the day? All of that tension was created because of the limited time he was given – but now he’s able to literally take over another man’s consciousness, with all the previous rules ignored.
