Back when maids, butlers, and housekeepers were considered a household staple, many homes were equipped with servant bells. Servant bells were often handheld, but in certain homes there still remains a wall-bearing which once held the noisy device. With servant bells, house dwellers would simply walk over and give a few rings to get the attention of the worker on duty. Sometimes we wish we could ring a bell and have someone bring us breakfast in bed, but that is what Uber Eats is for!
