Similar to the phone nook, phone jacks have been rendered useless for any home that got rid of their landline telephones. Most people have opted for wireless cell phones for communication, which only require a temporary plug in to their charging cables when the battery is running low. However, in many homes there still exists a phone jack where traditional phones attach into the wall. These ports are what allow landline phones to access phone services, so without them, the phone would not work.
