We can’t speak for everyone, but we definitely remember our teachers in elementary school giving us Smarties before a test for good luck to help to make us smarter. These pastel colored candies come in a variety of fruity flavors, including orange, cherry, and pineapple. The reason for their tablet shape is because the candies were initially made with repurposed pellet machines after World War II. Smarties are still popular today, with factories that produce them running 24 hours a day, five days a week.
