Before a hip hop group turned it into a bit of a vulgar song, Laffy Taffy was just a chewy candy that people around the world loved. With the original flavor of banana being introduced in the 1970s, other successful flavors like strawberry and watermelon began to appear along with less successful ones such as hot cocoa and peppermint, which were eventually discontinued. The silly putty textured candy is just one of Willy Wonka’s original inventions (the real candy company, that is, not the book or movie).
