Before becoming one of country’s biggest superstars, she was one of 12 children living in a quiet area in Sevier County, Tennessee. She fell in love with music when she began singing in her church choir. When she was just 13 years old she landed her first record deal at a small Louisiana-based independent label. The deal didn’t transpire to much and after graduating from Sevier County High School in 1964 she moved to Nashville to pursue her music career.
