Fast Times at Ridgemont High star Phoebe Cates was a major star (and crush) during the ‘80s. In their memorable review, Rolling Stone wrote that her penultimate scene was “the most memorable bikini-drop in cinema history.” The film was selected for preservation by the U.S. Film Registry in 2005. She went on to star in Gremlins and its sequel. Cates retired from acting in the mid-’90s to focus on raising her two children with actor Kevin Kline. The family lives in New York.
