[post_page_title]Barbara Mandrell in high school[/post_page_title]
Mandrell grew up in Houston, Texas and began singing, playing the pedal steel, the accordion, and the guitar at a very young age. She caught the attention of an RCA Records executive and was signed to the label. She was only 13 when she began touring with the big leagues such as Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. Mandrell and her family founded the Mandrell Family Band, which featured non-relative Ken Dudney as the band’s drummer. Mandrell and Dudney married soon after she graduated from Oceanside High School.
