Shue was born in Wilmington, Delaware but grew up in South Orange, New Jersey. She was only nine years old when her parents got a divorce. She attended Columbia High School in New Jersey and was inducted into the school’s hall of fame with her acting brother and fellow actor, Andrew, in 1994. Upon graduating from high school she attended Wellesley College but transferred after her sophomore year to the prestigious Harvard University. It was there that she began working in commercials and got her first taste of acting.
