[post_page_title]Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘genius’ moment in American Hustle[/post_page_title]
To think that not only had this scene almost not happened, but the entire role almost didn’t! When director David O. Russell was casting for 2013 comedy American Hustle, Jennifer Lawrence was cast as conman Irving Rosenfeld’s wife Rosalyn very late in the game, despite being “too old” for the role.
She won Russell over, however, which led to an electric performance. Said performance included improvising kissing Sydney, her husband’s mistress played by Amy Adams, in the middle of an argument, and then breaking into cruel laughter. Adams called the moment “genius.”
