In 2011, Japan was struck by a terrifying earthquake and tsunami that ultimately caused the Fukushima nuclear accident. While those who lived in the surrounding area were evacuated and did not return to their homes for fear of being exposed to radiation, Naoto Matsumura knew he had to go home.
In fact, that’s exactly what he did, because he couldn’t bear the thought of the animals not having anyone to take care of them. He took on that job and became the hero we all needed.
