The most common cause of death when someone is left in a hot parked car is heat stroke. This can occur when the body reaches a temperature of over 104 degrees fahrenheit (40 degrees celsius). Symptoms of heat stroke are the obvious rise in body temperature, profusely sweating (or complete lack of sweat), rapid and shallow breathing, nausea or vomiting, and a rise in heart rate. Because babies are more prone to heat stroke because their tiny bodies cannot properly regulate temperature.
