No matter how hard Lt. Short tried to perform CPR on the baby, he just couldn’t change the situation in front of him. He began to wonder whether the child’s airways were obstructed, but couldn’t see into its mouth to confirm this belief. It was at this point that Lt. Short knew that he needed backup if he wanted to save the life of this baby. So, he called for an ambulance, and waited for them to arrive, while continuing his attempts at first aid and CPR.
