In order to really see their experiment through to fruition, the teens made a cunning decision.
They got a lead pipe and wedged it against the seat and the pedal while the engine was off. They then turned the engine on so that the car would be powering itself and waited for the fireworks. It was clear to them that something big was going to happen, but it is unlikely that any of them could have predicted just how big it was going to be.

The car was coming to the end of its life, and the teens knew that. Flooring a car in park mode can be destructive enough, and this combined with the WD-40 factor meant that the car was on its way out.
It seemed clear that the vehicle was going to blow, it was only a matter of time, so the guys decided to take bets on this too! The wagers were laid on how long it would take the car to blow, and they decided to time it.
