Like many in the entertainment arena, Bacon has had a history of substance abuse. This isn’t just relating to his indiscretions when working for Blue Peter – it seems he has also battled with drinking problems in his life as well.
This is something that might well have had an impact on the presenter’s health, and could have been one of the factors that has led to his illness. Substance problems can be very debilitating and destructive, and this perhaps triggered the wake-up call Bacon needed.
