Kate’s supposed jealousy largely stemmed from the fact that Pippa seemed to be more socially at ease than her. According to journalist Emma Cowing, the younger Middleton was more of a natural in social situations, and that worried her sister.
Kate apparently feared that she might be eclipsed by her sibling because Pippa knew how to win people over. She was always the more popular of the two, even when it came to their brother’s friends. That wasn’t how things were supposed to be, not when she was the eldest.
