While William probably didn’t mean to cause upset with his remarks, it’s understandable why he made them. As a future king, he has to look out for the interests of his family. He doesn’t want anyone coming in and taking advantage of them, especially given how much they’d risk losing.
It was natural for him to be concerned about his brother tying the knot after only being with Meghan for a year. It took him the best part of a decade to be sure Kate was ‘the one,’ after all.
