For almost an entire season of Friends, the audience were shown glimpses of what looked like Joey and Rachel getting together. Finally, when they had both laid their cards on the table, they tried their best to make it work.
As they are beginning to get intimate things just keep going wrong and Rachel slaps Joey instinctively because he’s her friend. Then when she overcomes that reaction, she accidentally knees him in his private area and completely ruins the mood, and they realize their relationship is not destined to be.
